• Rev. Dr. Sook Hee Bae is a mission co-worker of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (PCUSA) serving with the Women Ministers Association of the Presbyterian Church of Korea. A pioneering counselor, ordained minister, and advocate, she has dedicated her ministry to empowering women in the church and restoring hope to survivors of domestic violence.

    Drawing on decades of pastoral and counseling experience, Rev. Dr. Bae helped establish Good News Shelter, a faith-based ministry that provides safety, healing, and compassionate support for women escaping abuse. Her work has transformed the lives of countless women and families, creating pathways to healing, dignity, and renewed purpose.

    Originally from South Korea, Rev. Dr. Bae immigrated to the United States in 1973 with her husband, K.J., where they raised three sons. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Montclair State University before answering God's call to ordained ministry, receiving both her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from New York Theological Seminary. She was ordained by the Presbytery of the Palisades of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 1999.

    Before returning to Korea as a mission co-worker, Rev. Dr. Bae served Korean immigrant families through the Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) in New York, providing counseling and advocacy for individuals facing social, legal, and domestic violence challenges. Her compassionate leadership earned her recognition as Woman of the Year by the Bronx Borough President.

    For more than 30 years, Rev. Dr. Bae has faithfully combined faith, leadership, and service to empower women, strengthen families, and advance healing and justice across Korea and the United States.

She co-leads across-functional organization consisting of data, marketing, product development, engineering, design, research, customer care, and sales to drive The Times’s subscription growth across its portfolio of products. She is proud to have been at The Times when it sold its very first digital subscription in 2011, and to see it soar to more than 13 million subscribers from every corner of the globe.

    Prior to joining The Times, she was an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and a management consultant at Katzenbach Partners LLC (now a part of Strategy&). She serves on the Board of Empire State Realty Trust, a leading real estate investment trust, and chairs the Board of The New York Times Communities Fund, The Times' largest and oldest nonprofit that has supported people in dire financial circumstances for more than 100 years. She was previously on the Board of The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Scholastic's nonprofit that has been supporting creative teens since 1923.

    Hannah graduated from Harvard College, Harvard Law School, and The Juilliard Pre-College Division. She immigrated to the United States from Korea at the age of nine. She lives in New York with her husband and has two sons.
